VIT Summer Clinic 3/13

Virginia Ice Theatre is holding a 2021 Summer Conservatory weekend clinic at PWIC with the following schedule:

  • Music Interpretation and Character Development
    • July 24th and 25th from 1:00 to 4:30 PM
  • Fundamentals of Choreography 101
    • July 31st and August 1st from 1:00 to 4:30 PM
  • Fundamentals of Choreograph 102
    • August 7th and 8th from 1:00 to 4:30 PM
  • Show Tricks and Ensemble Technique
    • August 14th and 15th from 1:00 to 4:30 PM

We love to see all of you join us for this program where we explore new ideas in music and choreography. It will give you a chance to participate in the online Competition that USFS is offering Theatre teams. Hope to see you there and bring you skating friends! TOI 2021 Season Updates

Theatre on Ice National Summer Series (May – August)

In lieu of a National Theatre On Ice competition this year, teams will have the opportunity to compete in a summer series of nonqualifying TOI events across the country. Teams participating in the series only need to compete once but may compete in all; their highest CJS scores for CE and FS will be incorporated into national rankings, and medals will be awarded to the top placing teams at each level for both the Choreographic Exercise and Free Skate. Each team that participates will receive a gift for each athlete that participates. The Series will run from May 14 – August 29, and final placements will be announced in a virtual closing ceremony. As part of the closing ceremonies, teams can submit video postcards of their team for inclusion in the presentation.

The following competitions have been confirmed as part of the National Summer Series:

  • Birmingham, Alabama, 6/28 to 6/30
  • Brighton, Michigan, 7/16 to 7/18
  • TBD, August

Virtual Theatre On Ice Challenge (mid-summer)

In addition to the National Summer Series, there will be a standalone virtual event offered this summer to provide teams another opportunity to participate. Additional details on the Virtual Theatre On Ice Challenge will be forthcoming later this spring.

Nations’ Cup & Adult Gold Cup Selection Competition

Teams will be selected for the 2022 Nations’ Cup and Adult Gold Cup at a qualifying competition to be held over the Martin Luther King weekend, January 15-17, 2022. This event will be open to any Novice, Junior, Senior, and Adult teams who would like to be qualify for the 2022 Nations’ Cup & Adult Gold Cup events. Placements in the TOI National Summer Series will not be a factor in selections. Guidelines for this event as well as location will be decided by the end of summer.

The Choreographic Exercise axes change beginning August 30, 2021 and will be used for the Selection Competition, 2022 Nations’ Cup, Adult Gold Cup and the 2022 National Theatre On Ice Competition.

National Theater On Ice 2022

Visit Wichita, in conjunction with the Wichita Figure Skating Club, will host the 2022 National Theatre On Ice competition June 22 – 25, 2022.

There are several virtual events and seminars in the works for this summer and early fall.
